Introducing Systems ReArchitected
Architecting Systems and the SystemCrafters become Knowledge Flow
Three years ago, I was in Croatia, riding in an Uber along the Adriatic, the sea sparkling like a Seattle vampire. A word rose in my mind so loudly it felt like a universal push notification:
Publish.
And then …
The World Turned Upside Down
The challenges have been unrelenting:
- I published Learning Systems Thinking with O’Reilly.
- Architected challenging projects. Designed and built my own cross-platform publishing system.
- Traveled the world, giving talks, keynotes, and workshops.
- Accepted a new role with The Athletic.
- Signed, then cancelled, a contract with O’Reilly. I’m developing the next book as an experience beyond instructional text.
It got weird, didn’t it?
I’ve made all the boring mistakes. Overcommitted then ghosted my own community. Said yes to too much. Launched more than I could maintain.
Freaked myself out, got sick, got better.
But I’ve learned more than I could have imagined. And now? I’m working my way towards this wonderful, and sometimes worrisome, new normal.
Here’s what’s changing
I’ve finally realized: I’m not failing. I’m just a normal person with limited capacity. This year, in addition to my current role, I’ll be doing the things I love most:
- Writing the next book, Knowledge Flow.
- Sending one newsletter, Systems ReArchitected, each week.
- Slowly building the community of systems-savvy people in Architecting Systems.
- Traveling less, but still teaching at a few of my favorite events.
Knowledge Flow: A Teaser
Knowledge Flow: How to Design Smarter Information Systems isn’t just a book.
It’s a digital experience. A map. A set of interwoven practices. Architecting the mindset, methods, and tools that turn information overload into organizational intelligence..
According to Thoughtworks, knowledge flow is a sociotechnical system we can design. An emerging must learn.
This is where you do it.
Warning: There are many snarky metaphors, big words, and random movie quotes.
A favor
I’ve moved to a new email platform for better deliverability. If you want to ensure you continue receiving updates, add these, add readers@systemsrearchitected.com to your contact list.
Email there anytime. I’d love your ideas, feedback, and lived experiences.
If you are a member of the community, also add hosts@architectingsystems.com
Let’s .
You might feel ghosted, and that’s fair. And yet, I hope you will stay, even as I stumble on this journey.
Because together, we are rearchitecting the systems around us… and the ones inside us.
Looking forward to co-creating this next chapter together,
Diana
